I woke up nervous as hell. My daughter and friends bossed me around, getting hair and make-up done which isn’t ‘me’ at all so I was way out of my comfort zone before we even got to the launch! There was plenty of hype at home, the house was full to the brim with family and friends who had travelled from Sydney, Geraldton and lots of places in between.
We had hired a bus to take us from Smoky Bay to Thevenard. I was overwhelmed when we arrived to see so many people there, it felt like they kept pouring in the door, over 200 people in total. It was magical to see so many faces, some I hadn’t seen for years and a lot who had been heavily involved assisting Goog and I while pushing the road. There seemed to be a buzz of anticipation in the air.
I got through the speech and official launch with just a few tears, then it was down to book signing and the usual enormous afternoon tea spread which country people are famous for!
We carried on with the celebrations back at Smoky Bay, finishing at some small hour of the next morning. I was able to ‘unwind’ with plenty of beers and laughs.
Those family and friends who stayed on enjoyed a day out at the lake a few days later.
I am very pleased with how successful the book has been up to now, getting lots of positive feed back which tells me that I might have got ‘the recipe’ right!
You will also see on here that I have stubby holders, stickers and a CD available for sale.
Here are some launch pics to share with you.
